Greenland Granite

Greenland Granite:

Greenland the name says it all…its lush like vein’s of green waver in a smooth kite- like fashion. This is a truly unique material with its various greens and hazy grays that are delightfully interlaced with delicate threads of burgundy. This stone is soothing to the eye yet entices the viewer with geological curiosities.

This materials country of origin is Brazil. It is a durable material, classified as a Granite. Its geological history may be far deeper then a typical Granite because it has potentially gone through yet another stage of formation, adopting unique minerals such as Serpentine, hence the fancy array of greens. Much of the green pigment is owed to the mineral Serpentine, a mineral that is inert to acids such as lemon juice and is typically inclusive in some of the finest green materials yet discovered.

Greenland is available in a Polished surface with a 2cm thickness, we have this material in slab form. It is Ideal for bathroom, flooring, kitchen countertops, stair treads, wall cladding, etc..

So tell me, do you envision Greenland Granite as the limelight in your home or somewhere that you may fancy?!

Imperial Danby Marble Slab

Imperial Danby Marble

This is probably one of the most widely used Marbles for kitchen countertops among many other avenues in terms of application, for instance this material was massively used in Washington DC as exterior cladding, flooring, countertops as well as carved elements. It is highly regarded for its durability and its low absorption rate which has officially been tested at 0.7%. This domestic & premier marble is quarried deep within the state of Vermont in the largest underground marble quarry in the world!

The Danby marbles are most definitely suitable for a commercial application and are appropriate and most aesthetically pleasing to the eye as kitchen countertop space or in a place to seek purity & peace such as in a bathroom with its softening vein appeal surrendering to warm gold’s and misty grays. Where ever destined this material will appeal to all facets of ones lifestyle with its classical grace and its strong physical attributes.

We have this slab material in 2cm thickness with a Polished finish and 3cm thickness with a Polished surface finish as well as a satin honed finish. In addition we also house four other marbles from the Danby collection (Eureka Danby, Montclair Danby, Mountain White and the Olympian White)

Featured Stone of the Week, Golden Violet Onyx Slab

Golden Violet Onyx:

Today we highlight our Polished, Golden Violet Onyx, vein cut slabs available in 2cm thickness.

Majestic comes to mind when I lay my eyes upon this material, it’s depth and translucency are a gift in it’s self, offering a subtle glimpse of the inner world workings of such a stone as this Golden Violet Onyx. It is especially translucent when backlit as to reveal its natural beauty.

The warming ochre’s and burnished burgundies evoke a sense of luxury, sensuality and comfort. Truly an experience that only few stones can come close to.

This material would be most suitable in a shower, tub deck and surround, vanity, art niche tops, wall art, fireplace surround & hearth, sky light or whatever you may fancy.

Featured Stone of the week

Here we showcase our Polished, Stalattite Brown Onyx a warm honey chocolate hued material from the Middle East. This material was once originally formed in deep caverns possibly as a Stalactite formation collectively known as a dripstone. Over a period of time, space and its overall dependence and presence of air it continues to “drip” down accumulating its icicle structure through calcification born out of cold mineral springs. On the other end of the spectrum there are Stalagmites which are formed while on the ground and is created by the same process but accrete into a piller formation…this amazing process is a love story of stone where the Stalactites meets the Stalagmites and fuse together in this eternal bond that we call stone or rather in this case Onyx.

This material would be worthy to be used as a vanity, shower surround, fireplace, etc…there are virtually endless possibilities for such a material as this Vein cut Stalattite Brown Onyx. We have a light with a lot of movement (see the picture included) as well as a dark version that has a bit more linear veining with a wood-like accent.

We recommend that this material be viewed in person as it’s wholeheartedly reminiscent to the precious stone known as “Tiger Eye” or perhaps something more as it’s all in the eye of the beholder.

Featured Stone of the week:

This week we’d like to illuminate a superb slab of Sodalite featured here in a lightweight 1 cm thickness, this is a super dense material known for it’s rare properties (it is a close relative to Lapis Lazuli) A precious stone prized for it’s ultramarine pigment & rich blues also known as the “Heaven Stone.” Its highlights are most definitely its lustrous deep blue and the overall richness & depth. It induces one to recall a space of blue skies with it’s scattered grains of gold-like pyrite that are akin to the stars, while others are captured by it’s white calcite areas resembling clouds.

Perhaps this may be a material to please and appease you & yours that may be ideal for a vanity top, fireplace surround or any other fine furnishing application that you can imagine.
